Why do switches used in marine equipment need to undergo salt spray testing?

2026 05/21

Yeswitch Electronics toggle switches  passed the salt spray test with a cumulative test duration of over 120 hours. The product is equipped with anti-corrosion additives and can be applied in high-humidity and high-salt corrosion environments such as automobiles, construction machinery, marine equipment, outdoor industrial control, security equipment, port machinery, vehicle-mounted systems, and industrial automation equipment.

The standard salt spray test duration for common market toggle switches is only 48 hours. This indicator cannot meet the usage specifications for vehicle-mounted and offshore outdoor environments. In such scenarios, salt water vapor is prone to seep into the internal components through the switch gaps. Industry requirements state that the salt spray test duration for corresponding toggle switches should be ≥ 96 hours.
This industrial toggle switch adopts an overall waterproof and sealed structure. The internal contacts can withstand corrosion for up to 168 hours, and it is suitable for various industrial and vehicle-mounted equipment with high corrosion resistance requirements.
Material configuration of the product: The housing is made of 316 stainless steel, and the surface is treated with Dacromet anti-corrosion. The sealing components are fluorosilicone; the internal encapsulation and sealing structure achieve salt spray isolation. The contact base material is silver alloy, and the gold plating thickness is ≥ 2 μm.
