Differences between fully sealed potting and partially semi-sealed potting at the bottom of wired waterproof switches
Fully sealed potting is applicable to industrial waterproof, vehicle-mounted, agricultural machinery and engineering machinery scenarios.
Partially semi-sealed potting is sufficient for household appliances, indoor low-vibration and low-protection applications.
Advantages of bottom fully sealed potting:
- Full IP67/IP68 waterproof performance. All gaps are completely sealed to resist extreme conditions such as water immersion, rain and salt spray.

- Welding spots are fully encapsulated with maximum insulation performance, avoiding electric creepage, electric leakage and short circuit.
Advantage of partially semi-sealed potting (only potting wire outlet and root): better internal heat dissipation.
Disadvantages:
- Poor waterproof performance, only resistant to slight splashing, not applicable for water immersion.
- Wire vibration easily causes desoldering and wire breakage at wire root.
- Cavities remain at the bottom, prone to dust accumulation and condensation, resulting in contact oxidation after long-term use.
