First, let's compare the state of the switch terminals when they are initially soldered with the state after being left exposed for a period of time:

The materials of the switch terminals are mostly copper, with nickel plating, copper plating, silver plating, gold plating, etc. processes.

If the following environments are included: humid air, large amount of dust, coastal areas with salt content in the air, electrochemical corrosion environment (sulfur dioxide, ammonia gas...), oil stains, large temperature differences between hot and cold,

· The surface of copper or brass terminals gradually oxidizes, forming copper oxide and copper green, the color becomes darker, black, and develops green rust;

· The zinc layer of galvanized or iron terminals oxidizes and turns white, peels off, the base material rusts, and turns red-brown rust;

· The tin layer of tin-plated or silver-plated terminals oxidizes and turns gray, the silver layer sulfides and turns black (generally caused by sulfur compounds in the air).
