What is the waterproof principle of industrial waterproof push button switch?

2024 10/09

The waterproof principle of industrial waterproof push button switch is mainly achieved in the following ways:
Metal Push Button Switch
Sealing gasket design: In the structure of the push button switch, sealing gaskets are set at key positions such as the connection between the button and the switch body and the splicing of the switch shell. These sealing gaskets are usually made of materials with good elasticity and sealing properties such as rubber and silicone. When the push button switch is in the closed state, the sealing gasket is squeezed and fits tightly on the contact surface, forming an effective barrier to prevent moisture from penetrating into the switch from the outside. For example, some miniature waterproof push button switches have a circle of fine rubber gaskets around their buttons to ensure that even in a humid environment, moisture cannot enter the switch and affect its normal operation.

Sealed switch housing: The housing of the switch is an important line of defense for waterproofing. High-quality industrial waterproof push button switches will use materials with good sealing properties to manufacture the housing, such as special plastics, metal alloys, etc. And during the assembly process of the housing, the sealing of the housing will be further enhanced by means of sealants or sealing rings5. For example, the shell of some waterproof push button switches adopts an integrated molding process to reduce the splicing gap, and then high-strength sealant is applied to key parts to make the switch shell resistant to moisture intrusion. For some occasions with extremely high requirements for waterproofing, a multi-layer shell structure may also be used, and sealing measures are set between layers to ensure foolproofness.

Glue filling treatment: Some industrial waterproof button switches use glue filling to achieve waterproofing. A layer of special waterproof glue is poured around the electronic components and circuits inside the switch. This waterproof glue not only has good insulation properties, but also can completely isolate the electronic components from external moisture. Even if the outside of the switch is soaked in water, moisture cannot penetrate into the glue layer and contact the electronic components, thereby ensuring the normal operation of the switch. However, the switch after glue filling treatment will be relatively difficult to repair, because the glue layer needs to be removed before the internal components can be repaired.

Special button design: The design of the button itself also has an important impact on the waterproof performance. The buttons of some waterproof button switches adopt special structures, such as designs with waterproof membranes or waterproof sleeves. When the button is pressed, the waterproof membrane or waterproof cover can deform with the movement of the button, but always keep the gap between the button and the switch body sealed to prevent moisture from entering. This design is common in some waterproof push button switches that need to be operated frequently, such as switches on the control panel of industrial equipment.
